The Clintons, Trump And Their Partisan Hacks Defile Great Public Servant James Comey

Hillary Clinton supporters that insist on continuing to cry foul about James Comey’s unprecedented public involvement in the handling of her e-mail case need a healthy and humble dose of reality.  What should have and would have occurred if not for Bill Clinton (more on this below) would have been the FBI quietly going about their investigation, then once they determined that there was no criminal case to recommend that the Department of Justice (DOJ) should prosecute, they would have informed Attorney General Loretta Lynch who would have been the person to make that public announcement.  That is the normal chain of command with active FBI investigations: the FBI conducts their investigations internally and do not discuss investigations with the public, then once investigations are complete, make the recommendations to the DOJ to prosecute or not to prosecute.  The DOJ then acts on the FBI recommendation and deals with all public communications regarding a given case.

In the case of the Hillary Clinton investigation, this protocol was interrupted when during the 2016 election cycle, Bill Clinton boarded the plane to have a private meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch in Phoenix Arizona.  It was this very meeting that would lead James Comey and his leadership team at the FBI to break protocol and bring the news of the FBI’s investigation of Clinton’s emails into the public spotlight.  He acted separately in order to protect the credibility of the investigation from the perspective of both the DOJ and FBI.  We learned further today in James Comey’s  Senate Intelligence Committee testimony that in addition to this, Loretta Lynch instructed Comey to use the language “matter” as opposed to the word “investigation” for the FBI’s e-mail probe, the exact language that the Hillary Clinton campaign used to describe her e-mail investigation.

In light of all of the fall out the followed (Democrats at first praising Comey for not recommending prosecution while rebuking him for interjecting his opinion that Secretary Clinton was “careless,” then later lambasting him when he alerted Congress that the FBI was looking into newly discovered e-mails shortly before the election), Clinton, her surrogates, and her supporters have all failed to recognize or admit how complicit the Clintons were in James Comey’s public involvement.  His involvement was a direct result of Bill Clinton’s meeting with Loretta Lynch.

Earlier today, Comey gave a very credible account of his 9 one on one conversations he had with President Trump since he was President Elect.  With each conversation initiated by Trump totaling 9 in a 4 month period in comparison to President Obama’s 2 conversations in 3 1/2 years, that alone is astounding.  The fact that the quid pro quo that Comey sensed from Trump, the breach of appropriate decor, and intention to influence him on the Russia collusion and Flynn investigations led to Comey carefully document each conversation convinced that Trump may lie about stated conversations in the future, is a very serious implication coming from such a seasoned and respected law enforcement official that has served three administrations.  The fact that he never before felt compelled to document conversations with President Bush or President Obama, yet Comey felt it necessary to take this step from his very first conversation with then President Elect Trump, tells us all that we need to know about the character of President Donald Trump.

To their credit, the republican senators of the Senate Intelligence Committee refrained from trying to discredit Mr. Comey, but quite oppositely showed him respect, decor, and praised him for his service to the country.  While they asked questions with varying degrees of spin to take some of the negative light Mr. Comey’s testimony shed on the President, they never once questioned or attacked the integrity of Mr. Comey and his reputation.

The White House, Trump surrogates, and even the RNC already have their smear campaigns against James Comey in full force.  This man who served his country honorably, still carries the full support of his peers and the respect of the agency that he so ably led,  in addition to unjustly being fired must now endure the full vitriol of Donald Trump and his republican minions that choose blind party loyalty over common decency and the rule of law.

The Clintons, Trump, and their respective hacks that attacked and will continue to attack the honorable public servant James Comey should be ashamed of themselves.  In consideration of James Comey and the morally corrupt people has had to deal with this past year, I am reminded of the famous quote from Nick Carraway, Gatsby’s friend from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby: “They’re a rotten crowd…You’re worth the whole damn bunch put together.”

Thank you for your service Mr. Comey.
